TUM Connect

Discuss. Network. Co‐create. These are the three guiding principles of the TUM Connect event, at which companies from the region meet experts from TUM once a year to discuss current issues and learn from each other.

Discuss. Network. Co-create.

The event concept is based on the “Speakers' Corner” in London's Hyde Park. Instead of boxes or stepladders, small podiums offer participants the opportunity to be seen and heard. This means all participants can speak up anytime, express their views, and share their experiences. Each year, the venue is divided into different (themed) areas, between which participants can move or remain as they wish.
At the beginning of each evening, the respective experts open the discussion rounds with a short impulse, for example, with topics such as:

  • Skilled workers of the future ‐ (Not) a panacea?
  • Process mining ‐ Do I have it? Do I need it? Is that contagious?
  • Sustainability through digitalization or sustainable digitalization: Where are more opportunities for my company?
  • Tradition and innovation ‐ contradiction or opportunity?
  • Personal transformation first, digital transformation second ‐ Do I need a personal transformation for a digital transformation?

The TUM Connect event's interactive format allows all participants to break down initial inhibitions, reflect on possible applications, and benefit from impulses for their own company. At the same time, this exchange is an essential indicator of where companies currently stand and what demands are placed on science and knowledge transfer.

The next event will take place on November 28, 2024 with the following experts and topics:

  • “Do we still need software engineers at all with Generative AI?” (Prof. Dr. Stefan Wagner)
  • “Scenario analysis in digital transformation - starting from the worst case, hoping for the best case? (Dr. Christoph Geier)
  • “Better safe than sorry - framework conditions for the twin transformation” (Dr. Dina Barbian)
  • “Breaking out of old patterns: Business design & innovation for entrepreneurial success” (Dr. Karl Rabes)

For me, it is important to get the information that is conveyed here up close, also to be able to ask direct questions, and of course the networking part in the aftermath of the workshops."

Dr. Ulrich Spitaler

What makes the event for me is the really intimate exchange with people I didn't know before. I was able to make a lot of great new contacts that are guaranteed to help me in my professional activities.
