The ranking takes various factors into account: On the one hand, scientists worldwide are surveyed about the reputation of universities in research and teaching. On the other hand, data such as the number of publications per researcher, citations per publication, the teacher-student ratio, third-party funding from industry, the number of patents and the degree of internationalization are evaluated. The indicators are weighed differently depending on the subject culture. In the recently published main edition of the ‘THE World University Rankings,’ TUM ranks 27th.
Students at the TUM Campus Heilbronn also benefit from excellent teaching in the two subjects ‘Business and Economics’ by the TUM School of Management (MGT) and ‘Computer Science’ by the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT).
